World’s Left-handers Day: Struggle of left handed people

Winfrey, Sachin Tendulkar, Rafale Nadal and Amitabh Bachchan. What is common in these people? They are famous and best in their field but what else.  They are all left-handers as well.
In India, left-handedness is still often considered a bad omen. People who are left-handed are often not welcome to perform puja ceremonies, and a lefty is often referred to as someone who uses the ‘wrong hand’— Ulta (opposite) as opposed to seedha (straight and right). And if you eat with the left hand, your parents and society will look at you like you have committed some crime.
As per the research conducted by the American Psychological Association  10 per cent of the people in the world are left-handed, and that’s not a small number.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sciencetimes.com/amp/articles/26806/20200810/leftie-scientists-explain-why-10-left-handed-people.htm

However, despite this, lefties often struggle to perform basic daily tasks in a world designed for right-handers, and until not so long ago, faced widespread social stigma too.
Back in 1976, the first International Left-Handers Day was observed for the first time. It continues to be observed annually on 13 August. On this day let’s talk about the struggle’s lefties face in day-to-day life:

1.Finding a comfortable desk position

Credit- Indiatoday

Writing on a desk that really only works for righties, and the amount of time you spend adjusting and trying to find the perfect angle is war itself. Remember how you manage with poor handwriting towards the end of an exam just because you had to spend 10 minutes figuring out a perfect position to write? Plus, the act of writing left to right is itself messy for a left-hander, because your hand or the sheet of paper is bound to get smudged with ink. We’ll kick off our list of problems for left-handed people with this pain. University is hard enough without having to find an appropriate desk.

2. Handling household equipment and devices

Credit- Pinterest

Scissors, tweezers, bottle openers — most kitchen equipment and even basic household tools are designed keeping right-handed people in mind. It is difficult to find a pair of scissors that works for lefties, and doesn’t hurt their fingers. When Hindustan Pencils (the stationery brand that manufacturers Natraj and Apsara pencils) especially made leftie sharpeners after a four-year-old girl wrote to the company, it was a major breakthrough, but it remains the exception.
Scissors are amazing if you’re right-handed, but for lefties, these are literally torture devices. But even for right-handed people, prolonged cutting sessions are equally torturous.

3. Measuring tapes tend to be upside down

Credit- wikihow

Why is this even a thing? Who in their right mind designs, makes and sells upside down measuring tapes? Measuring cups, tapes, rulers — all favour the rightiesExamine a measuring cup or tape, a ruler or even a lab beaker, and you will see that the numbers are written in a way that makes them much easier for people using their right hand to see.

4. Crosswords are discriminatory

Credit- Hindustan times

You could learn to write in reverse, but why should you? Unless you use some super-duper instantaneously drying ink or ultra-resistant pencil, you’re going to end up with a dirty hypothenar.

5.Using public transport

Credit- qcostarica

The ticket barriers at metro stations typically have the scanner on the right side. Therefore, a leftie, who might instinctively put their metro card or the coin towards the left, will simply open the gate for someone else.

6. Playing instruments

Credit- twitter

Look, how are we supposed to release our creative sides if the power that be decided to only create instruments for the right-handed in mind?

7.  Keyboard number pads

Credit- apple

Yeah, say no more. Sure, I’ll just reach over the entire keyboard to type in some numbers. What’s that? Learn to do it with my right? I hate you.

8. The eternal right-left elbow war

Credit- Dreamstime

As if they didn’t have it easy enough with crosswords, scissors, and desks, you have to share desks with them. Beware, elbow combat is an inevitability. Let battle commence. Elbow wars and being pushed to the far left. Lefties always have to be conscious about which side they want to sit. Dining out with a group of friends, they have to make sure that their elbows do not clash with someone else who is eating with their right hand, for which they prefer a seat in the far corner.

9. Generally socializing with non-lefties

Credit- Wikipedia

Whether it be exchanging money, shaking hands, you name it. This is a damned mine-field. They  are also the constant demands for your experience of doing this or that. I’m left-handed not an alien dude.

10. Struggle with outdoor sports –

Foreigner-Friendly Tokyo Sports Clubs to Join This Summer | Tokyo ...

Let it be Badminton or Tennis or any other outdoor game left-handed people always feel left out. Since they don’t have the proper equipment to use their hands with and of course they face a lot a difficulty to train with such equipment and hurt themselves many times.

Researchers who study human hand preference agree that the side of the preferred hand (right versus left) is produced by biological and, most likely, genetic causes. The two most widely published genetic theories of human hand preference argue that evolutionary natural selection produced a majority of individuals with speech and language control in the left hemisphere of the brain. Because the left hemisphere also controls the movements of the right hand–and notably the movements needed to produce written language–millennia of evolutionary development resulted in a population of humans that is biased genetically toward individuals with left hemisphere speech/language and right-hand preference.

Right-handed people are not superior or inferior to left-handed and vice versa. But the needs of both people are different and everyone and the system should provide them the resource as per their need i.e. writing desk for left-handers or different stationaries for them. The society should also understand that its just science which makes one-hand dominant than the other and both the hands are equally important for human. Nothing makes left-handedness a bad omen or bad luck.

Apple and Google remove ‘Fortnite’ after Epic adds direct payment feature

‘Fortnite’ one of the world’s most popular mobile game is suddenly removed on Thursday by Apple and Google from the App Store and Google Play Store for launching a direct payment plan that bypasses Google and Apple’s standard 30 per cent fee.

The royal battle game ‘Fortnite’ by Epic, which made its debut in 2017, has around 350 million registered players worldwide. The game is free to download but generate revenue through purchases of items such as dance moves and digital costumes for players’ avatars.

In a statement picked up by The Verge, Google said : “For game developers who choose to use the Play Store, we have consistent policies that are fair to developers and keep the store safe for users.”

Tim Sweeney, Chief Executive of Epic has waged a public campaign against the Google Play Store and App Store, saying their developer fees are highly excessive.

Mr Sweeney said in an interview that, “We must all choose to fight a painful battle now, or accept an all-powerful middleman with unbounded ambition.”

After the removal from Google Play Store, ‘Fortnite’ is still available for android users from other app stores like Epic Games app or Samsung Galaxy Store on Samsung devices but for Apple users, there is no such choice.

In response to this, Fortnite released a video called the ‘Nineteen Eighty – Fortnite #FreeFortnite’ mocking Apple’s famous 1984 advertisement. The #FreeFortnite describes Epic battle with Apple as defying the “App Store Monopoly” and asked gamers and fans to join and support this fight against Apple.

Besides this, Epic went on suing Apple and Google in US court to prove Apple’s and Google’s monopoly and unfair practices to end for fair competition in the mobile app distribution.

However, Apple and Google are trying to resolve these violations so they can bring back Fortnite to the App Store and on Google Play.

We all have seen desert and seashores but a place which is a combination of both of these is quite an unusual sight.

One such place is The Skeleton Bay stretching 500-kilometres between the old German colonial town of Swakopmund and the Angolan border, in Namibia, a country in southwest Africa. The place is mostly uninhabited and unexplored because of its location and harsh climatic conditions.

It is called Skeleton Bay because of a large number of bones and shipwrecks accumulated over decades on the shores.

Martial Law imposed after Beirut Blasts

A week after the Beirut blasts which shocked the whole world, a state of emergency has been declared by the caretaker government.

It has been reported that 2750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate which had been left unattended for almost seven years exploded in the Beirut Port killing at least two hundred people and injuring thousands.

While the nation is in an uproar, and the streets are full of protestors, the military has been given complete autonomy over the citizens. The Lebanese Parliament voted for the emergency on August 13 and was approved by the lawmakers. The emergency is expected to continue till August 21 but it can be extended depending on the situation.

The military has been granted the freedom to curb free speech, freedom of press and freedom of assembly. Moreover, anyone who is suspected to be a threat by the army can be arrested from their own homes. The military can also impose curfew and check public gatherings to silence dissent against the lawmakers of the country.

The trauma of a fifteen-year-old Civil War which ended in 1990 still haunts many citizens with the fear of a war with Israel and the terrorist organisation Hezbollah backing the governments it’s a bleak future for the small country. Lebanon is struggling with its worst economic and financial crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resignation of the entire Cabinet shows how the government has failed Lebanon and its people.

The military should help in building a nation, not to exercise power and curb the basic rights of the citizens. The military is supposed to protect not oppress. This move is a war on the rights of Lebanon’s citizens and many rights groups have criticized this move and the implications it will have on the country.

The blasts were a result of the ignorance and the incompetence of the authorities and it’s the government who is responsible for the loss of precious lives.

Beirut port blast aftermath plunges Lebanon deeper into crisis ...
A man stands next to graffiti at the damaged port in Beirut on Aug. 11. (Hannah McKay/Reuters)

There have been reports of the army using excessive force in the recent protests and to give them free rein is a low blow from the Lebanese authorities.

Declaring a state of emergency during a pandemic, while the public deals with the trauma of losing their loved ones and suffers a financial crisis as the country delves deeper into debts, is a war on the fundamental rights of Lebanon’s citizens and this crisis should be dealt with as soon as possible.

How Joey Tribbiani, the loving lothario in ‘FRIENDS’ went from having $11 to 1 million per episode

Credit: internethaber.com

Friends, the nineties iconic sitcom, still rules in the hearts of millions, introduced the world with a new spell of humour. It not only changed the lives of its audience with its incessant humour and charm but also turned the lives of its castmates to 360-degrees.

Matt LeBlanc, who played the role of Joey Tribbiani, reminds how before bagging a part in the series, he had seen struggle up close.

LeBlanc was born on 25 July 1967 in Newton, Massachusetts. His mother is of Italian origin and worked as an office manager while his father is from French-Canadian descent, and was a mechanic. He attended Newton North High School and moved to New York at the age of 17 to pursue his career in modelling and acting.

He struggled a lot and saw dejections knocking his doorstep many times, but he never gave up. He remembered, before starting his career as Joey Tribbiani, he had only $11 in his bank account and had even gone as far as doing his own dental work to save some cash. He remembered that after getting the job, the first thing he did was treat himself to a nice meal. He was rejected on the ground that he is too short to be in the industry.

Even, having similarities with his character Joey Tribbiani, creators of the show weren’t convinced if he was the right pick. According to Screen Rant, Hank Azaria had auditioned for the part twice but was later given the role of Phoebe Buffay’s boyfriend, David.

Overcoming the insecurities of the creators, he proved, he is the best choice for the portrayal of Joey Tribbiani in the NBC sitcom, Friends. For his impeccable work in the series, LeBlanc received three Emmy Award nominations. He also won a Golden Globe Award and received four additional Emmy Award nominations for Episodes (2011-2017), in which he has starred as the fictionalized version of himself. LeBlanc also played a lead role in the CBS sitcom Man with a Plan, which began airing in 2016 until it was cancelled in 2020.

In February 2016, he also signed on to become one of the new Top Gear hosts. However, he decided to retire from the series in May 2016, having co-hosted it for three years. Despite the show being “great fun”, he stated the “time commitment and extensive travel takes me away from my family and friends more than I’m comfortable with.”

From rice and wheat to millets?

India is one of the major food growers in the world that produces tons of food to feed its population and export the surplus that is left. Agriculture is undoubtedly the backbone of our nation. Even today, most of the people of our country depend on farming to support their living and still use outdated methods. For the production of food, irrigation becomes an important factor as producing this much food requires a lot of water too. Food grains like paddy and wheat come under staple food of most of the Indians and therefore are in high demand but rice requires a large amount of water. but the traditional method of irrigation wastes a lot of water too. With a high rising population, great demand for food also rises, and with high demand for food, production increases, and with an increase in production, water requirements go up automatically. Farmers love to grow these two staple crops (wheat and rice) along with sugarcane mainly because of three major reasons: their high demand, stable price, and assured state purchase. These two staples, along with another thirsty crop, sugar cane, are grown in 40% of the country’s gross farmed area but consume about 80% of its irrigation water.

Rice Crop Cultivation in India - A Production Update | Rice crop ...
Credit: Scoop.it

But unfortunately, India’s 1.3 billion people only have access to about 4% of the world’s water. Farmers consume almost 90% of the groundwater water available. Most of the areas in India use traditional irrigation techniques that stress the availability of water. The traditional method of irrigation wastes a lot of water due to evaporation, water conveyance, drainage, percolation, and the overuse of groundwater. Water shortages are already acute. Nearly half the country’s population faces high-to-extreme water stress and about 200,000 die each year due to inadequate access to safe water.

Water is the central point of our lives but not the central point of our focus. The basic necessity of not only humans but also plants, birds, reptiles and every other living creature. But water scarcity is a major issue that is rising very rapidly in modern-day India. The problem has become so severe that in many states the groundwater has almost dried up and people have to depend on water supply from other sources. In addition, water is one of the most misused commodities that we still waste, that too without any regret.

India's Water Crisis Is Becoming a Problem for Modi
In frame: Ajay Singh (Credit: BloombergQuint.com)

But some humans out there take nature’s problems, as their own. They think about the future generation and every other creature who dies due to inaccessibility of certain things. One such human is Ajay Singh, who earlier used to come in the same category of farmers who grow rice and bring in about 150,000 rupees ($2,000) a year, which is considered as above the average income in a developing country like India but he gave up on such living where he considered himself as one amongst the thirst quencher of future generation and hence started cultivating pearl millet, cow peas, bottle gourd and corn — crops that consume about 80% less water than rice and also required less labour, fertilizer and electricity.

Millets, once a staple in India, fell out of favour as the government popularised the cultivation of other cereal grains. Unlike wheat and rice, millet cultivation is incredibly sustainable. Millets can grow in any climate; they are mainly rain-fed and are not prone to pests. So, millets can be grown in areas where water resources are not easily available too. They are not expensive to farm as they do not require expenditure on pesticides. But Unlike rice, which the government always buys at a set price, these crops have no guaranteed market. “I am taking this risk because I have a passion to leave enough water for future generations,” Singh said.

India’s food policy has remained focused on wheat and rice since the 1960s when the Green Revolution changed the farming landscape and made the country food self-sufficient for the first time. Millets became sidelined as a staple food grain in India due to the government’s lack of recognition. The government proactively pushed rice and wheat in the subsidised public distribution system, de-incentivising farmers from cultivating millets.

The water crisis has forced Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government to try and turn around decades of established farming practices and convince the country’s most powerful voting bloc to change the crops they plant. Water-guzzlers like rice and wheat are out, corn and pulses are in. For Modi, pushing farmers to change is risky business because of their sheer numbers and political power. As the farmers, some backed by the opposition Congress party said the government couldn’t deprive farmers of the right to grow crops that fetched the best price.

In a country like India, it is important to highlight millets not only to farmers but also to its population as millets are not only good for the environment but for us too.

However, of late, it has come into the notice of fitness-centric youngsters who are learning the wellness potential of this humble food. But it will take time to change the mindset of farmers and most of the farmers fear taking such risk. The government should give assurance to procure these crops, more access to market and set up infrastructural facilities like cold storage, maybe then, it will be easy to bring a change in the current draining situation of India’s water as well as economy.

Pakistani musician alleges makers of Sadak 2 of copying his song

Pakistani Musician Shezan Saleem, also known by JO-G, has alleged the makers of the upcoming movie Sadak 2 for copying one of his self-composed songs from 2011’s list. He took to twitter to claim this hour after the trailer of the movie was dropped on air yesterday. He has also shared the similarities between the two songs in the same tweet. As a result, his allegation has come under the scanner of Fox Star Studios, under which the movie has been produced.

The video which Shezan attached in his tweet had him explaining all the similarities between those two songs and also had short clips from the songs actually proving him to be true to his words. In the video, he said that when listened to the song he realised the song is a copy of his own composition. He also mentioned that he had made this song for his friend Zaid Khan. Shezan also claimed that the makers have tried copying not only the melody but the complete music sounded the same. In the end, he asks, “What does the public have to say?”

In his words, the claims of Pooja Bhatt stand very contrary, who is also the co-producer of Sadak 2. Earlier she had voiced about introducing new talents in her film. She didn’t hide the fact that ‘Ishq Kamaal’ song is a product of a music teacher from Chandigarh who personally came down to her seeking a chance.

Now, after so many controversies already attached with Sadak 2, this allegation has also added another headache for the makers. And let’s not forget that the trailer is currently the most disliked video on Youtube. (To read more about the issue check our report)

Let’s see how they will tackle this allegation and the rest of the controversies. Keep visiting our website for future updates.

Sadak 2 Trailer: The most disliked video on Youtube India with over 7 Million Dislikes

Mahesh Bhatt’s Sadak 2  trailer faced backlash because of ongoing nepotism debate in Bollywood. This debate prevailed after the suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput. His fans are speculating that he had been forlorn by the film industry due to favouritism. And that’s why fans are blaming Bollywood “insiders” for the unfortunate death. This list of insiders includes Mahesh Bhatt, director of Sadak 2, and his daughter Alia Bhatt, one of the film’s stars, who had spoken dismissively of Rajput.

In less than 24 hours, the trailer has accounted for over 6.5 Million dislikes, making it the most disliked video of Youtube in India. The trailer has already been bestowed with the most number of dislikes any movie could ever get.

Sadak 2 is a sequel to 1991 hit Sadak, directed by Mahesh Bhatt and starring his daughters Pooja  Bhatt and Alia Bhatt along with Sanjay Dutt and Aditya Roy Kapoor in pivotal roles, set to be released on Disney+ Hotstar on August 28.

Some days back Pooja Bhatt had Instagrammed a note her father Mahesh Bhatt shared with her about the movie. Mahesh Bhatt has returned to the director’s chair after almost two decades with Sadak 2. In the note, he had written, “Today as we begin the last leg of our journey, I feel unshackled… If the film works, it belongs to all of you. If it does not, it’s mine. That’s the duty and also the privilege of the director. You all gave me so much love and support for which I am very grateful. I love this film because each one of you made this possible.”

Sadak 2′ came under attention even more after it was rated on the ‘nepometer’, started by Sushant Singh’s brother-in-law, Vishal Kirti. The film was called 98 percent nepotistic. The nepometer official twitter account tweeted – “#Sadak2 is 98% Nepotistic. We rated it based on 5 categories, Producer, Lead Artists, Supporting Artists, Director & Writer. 4 out of 5 types have Bollywood Family members. When #nepometer is high, it’s time to #boycottbollywood

Will you watch this movie? Tell us in comments.”

All this chaos around the trailer made it a number one trending video on youtube, which prompted a reply from Pooja Bhatt in the form of a response to a tweet,

So far the number of dislikes has been increasing, making it on top trending for now.

What are your views on this ongoing backlash? We feel Pooja has taken the backlash very sportingly. Tell us your thoughts in the comment section below.

Child of Immigrant set to become Vice President of the States

As the United States presidential election draws closer, Joe Biden, the leading opposition candidate against Donald Trump picked Kamala Harris as his running mate on August 12.

Senator Harris ran against the Democrat candidate Biden but dropped out of the race last year in December.

Biden had promised that he would choose a woman for the position of Vice President and he delivered on it.

At a time, when racism and police brutality rampant in America, and the Black Lives Matter movement in full swing with support and funding from all over the world, having a woman of colour will only strengthen Biden’s presidential campaign.

Kamala Harris, a woman of Indian and Jamaican descent, represents a section of society that has been a minority and has a history of being oppressed.

Harris represents the middle class, the working population, Black people, immigrants, and most importantly she represents the women of America.

She is the first African American as well as the first Asian American woman to be nominated as a Vice President candidate.

Biden announced that Harris was a “child of immigrants” and with her impressive career as a prosecutor as well as a politician, Harris is an asset to Biden.

Credit: cnbc.com

Kamala announced on Twitter that she was honoured to join Joe Biden on the ticket.

With an impressive career both as a prosecutor and a politician, she symbolises multiracial diversity in America.

While the Trump-Pence partnership hopes to reach forward with rhetoric high on racism and derogatory comments on women bordering on extremism, Trump’s losing fight against the “Chinese” virus and him blaming China for the pandemic while failing to control the damage in his country speaks volumes.

At fifty-five, Kamala is considered as a ‘young’ leader and if Biden succeeds in becoming the President, Harris would possibly have a shot at the Presidency herself by 2024.

Choosing Harris has been a master move by the Democrats and it will encourage women to join politics, and for a diverse population to co-exist in peaceful harmony.

Black Magic and Bengalis : Stereotype against women.

The controversy over Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death by suicide is just refusing to die and takes a new turn every other day— from BJP leader Subramanian Swamy’s conspiracy theories, calls for CBI probe to Rajput’s father blaming his former girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty.

Credit: GoogleEarlier

Rajput’s family lodged an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty under various sections of the IPC, including abetment to suicide. Soon, people on social media began to accuse Chakraborty of performing ‘black magic’ on the actor, saying it may have driven Sushant to his death. A recent Aaj Tak headline screamed “Sushant par Rhea ka Kaala Jaadu” with a tackily photoshopped picture of Rhea Chakraborty over a glass orb with a smiling Sushant Singh Rajput helplessly trapped in it. News18 India, Zee TV, India TV, and countless other channels quickly followed suit to discuss in ‘breaking news’ segments how black magic done by Rhea played a role in the suicide case.

Credit: Twitter

While Chakraborty has refused to comment since the matter is now sub-judice, Twitter has been flooded with stereotypical posts against Bengali women because Rhea Chakraborty is a Bengali and their orthodox view that every Bengali woman knows and perform Black magic.

Trolls have labeled Bengali women as “gold-diggers”, “manipulative”, “dominating”, “bish kanya” (poisonous daughter), who “use their husbands for ATM”, who know “how to call ghosts” and “ruin” men’s careers. This mockery in the name of journalism was how the media by and large decided to treat the coverage of Chakraborty’s alleged involvement in Rajput’s suicide.

The allegation and charges put on Rhea Chakraborty by the family of Sushant Singh Rajput is not just limited to Rhea but people it amplifies the attack and target all Bengali women that they all are the same like Rhea (Rhea Chakraborty is not proven guilty and the case is in court under trail but does it even matter for people? All that matters is to create memes and give final verdict from their side)
While many more Bengali women continue to face such bias, this is not without precedent Deep-rooted misogyny and racial bias. Branding women as daayin (witch) is common across states but how Bengali women landed in the vortex of all this is something even rationalists are scratching their brains over what goes behind the stereotyping of the Bengali woman as the long-haired, red-lipped, irresistibly bold enchantress who turns everyone into puppets of her will?
Guwahati-based academic Gopa Majumdar has an answer. “Men often tend to listen to someone they respect and consider to be better than them. Bengali women perhaps have that effect on men and everyone else because of their hard-earned achievements compared to their counterparts in the rest of the country.”
But it is, she adds, the hyper-sexualized image of Bengali women created in popular culture — literature and cinema, especially Bollywood — that has also added to the narrative. “After all, Indians are famous for equating the inexplicable with the paranormal. So, the same goes for natural charm.”

Credit: Twitter

The first step towards unpacking this stereotype is dissecting how we view Bengali men aka the ‘Bhadralok’. Traditionally, we have relegated Bengali men to being artistic soft souls and “thinkers” who whine vocally about the government but only a handful possess the gumption to actually drive change. This depiction is also convenient since it gives further justification to their women looking to ‘entrap’ men outside of their community who have considerably more earning potential.
The trope of the dangerous Bengali woman has seen many evolutions, remaining as problematic in each rendition. The seductress who lures in men with her ample bosom delicately wrapped in tant sarees – think Komolika. The big-eyed bombshell who “weaponizes her feminine wiles” to attract gullible men – Rhea Chakraborty.
But rationalist Prabir Ghosh is still at his wit’s end over the “magical spell of Bengali women”. “Incidents of torturing women by labeling them as witch were rampant in Purulia district of West Bengal. Even five years ago, such incidents were quite common. But now it’s no longer the case,” says Ghosh, president, Rationalist Association of India. Stating that there’s no such thing as black magic, he throws a challenge to anyone who can prove its existence to the organization.
This isn’t a problem exclusively faced by Bengali girls though. I’m sure we’ve all heard and been complicit in enabling some or the other form of broad-strokes judgments. Be it for other communities, like the feisty ‘Marathi Mulgi’, the aggressive ‘Sikhni’ or the docile and homely ‘Gujju chhokri‘.

Credit: Feminism in India

Stereotypes are simply shortcuts for our brains to make snap judgments and navigate the world. However, we run into a problem when snap judgments reduce complex human beings into tropes. We need to start viewing people as individuals more than their group identity, by their achievements and successes, by their positive examples. Better focus on the positive side of individuals and mention it rather than ridiculing them, making fun of them if they take some harsh step than commenting this is not the option or RIP.

Local Muslim youth saved me, says instigator’s mother | Bangalore Violence

“Had local Muslim youths not come to my rescue, I don’t think I would have been alive today,” Jayanthi R, mother of Naveen P who is accused of posting a derogatory post on Facebook, said on Wednesday.

On Tuesday evening, the family members were watching TV while Naveen and his wife had gone out to buy groceries.
“My daughter who lives in Vijayanagar had come to our house with her family after a person near their house tested positive for Covid-19. We’re watching a TV serial when suddenly a mob gathered in front of our home. At 8.30 pm, the mob vandalised and set fire to bikes. I got all my children and grandchildren to go to the terrace from where they shifted to neighbouring houses.”
Jayanthi stayed back as there were gold ornaments and valuables. “Though there was a lot of commotion outside, I did assume that the houses would not be attacked. Also, I was not aware that it was related to us. I tried to enquire with some of the men on the street, but they did not see anything. I had never seen these men in our area before. The situation was gradually worsening and I panicked. There was no way I could flee as there were hundreds of people on the streets burning cars and bikes,” she recalled.
“At 10.30 pm, four-five local Muslim youths came to my house and told me that the situation would worsen. They said I should immediately go with them. By then, the mob entered our compound. One person told the youths escorting me that they were doing injustice to their religion by protecting Naveen’s mother. The locals warned the mob that no woman or child should be touched,” she said.
“I was literally carried across our compound to the next building. In less than a minute, our building was set on fire,” she said.
According to Jayanthi, it was a well-planned attack that targeted only people associated with her brother.

Through all ten seasons, there have been a lot of moments that have struck a sadness within its fans and sometimes dropped tears of joy or sadness.

10. ROSS GIVING AWAY MARCEL

Credit: Netflix

Any lover of animals who love Friends, or any big fan of Ross or even just Marcel, would have found the episode, and specifically the moment, where Ross has to give Marcel away emotional.
While Ross seems problematic to a lot of people, there is no denying his love for Marcel was real and giving him away was hard. Marcel brought cuteness and fun to the show as well as being a way for Ross to deal with all the stress in his life. In season one episode ten when Ross says goodbye to the monkey, one can not help but feel sad for all parties. And we all lover Marcel don’t we?

09. CHANDLER MOVING OUT
( Season 6 Episode 7 – ” The One On The Last Night”)

Credit: Netflix

After six seasons and six episodes together as one of television’s most iconic duos, Chandler moved out of his and Joey’s apartment, the end of an era. Even though it was just across the hall it was still an emotional moment for the duo and for all the fans.
As Chandler and Monica’s relationship reached its next chapter, an era of Joey and Chandler and the pair’s time living together comes to an end. While Rachel was also moving out and that too was sad, seeing Joey and Chandler hug for the last time as roommates and realize the six years of being together always was over hit different and was a sad day for audiences. It still is a tough decision whether we wanted to see more of Joey and Chandler or Monica and Chandler?

08. WHEN JOEY AND CHANDLER MISS EACH OTHER
( Season 2 Episode 16 – “The One Where Joey Moves Out”)

Credit: Netflix

After Chandler moved out, Joey didn’t let anyone become his roommate for long.

The two not being together is sad enough, especially after that Joey hug, but when the two starts to realize just how much they miss the other it gets tearful. Knowing how much they miss each other but that neither of them realizes just how much sucks, for those four episodes with Eddie replacing Joey in the apartment, it is sad times – especially with that “All By Myself” sequence.
Every still remembers their time together and the recliner, the pool table, the tv and all the things Joey and Chandler made memories on.

07. PHOEBE AND MIKE’S BREAKUP
( Season 9 Episode 16 – ” The One With The Boob Job”)

Credit: Netflix

For a long time in Friends, it seemed like David was the one for Phoebe and that she may never settle down, then a young, charismatic Paul Rudd came along and everything changed. It seemed like the two would last, and then as they were moving in with one another, they broke up.
Even though they did end up together in the end, it was a sharp shot of sadness when the two called it quit  in episode sixteen of season nine. Through their first stint together Phoebe had even chosen Mike over David upon David’s return, showing the love she had for him, while Mike professed his love for her to his disproving parents, having them breakup was both upsetting and frustrating.

06. MONIKA AND RICHARD’S BREAKUP
( Season 2 Episode 24 – ” The One With Baary Mindy’s wedding”)

Credit: Netflix

Long before London, before Chandler, and before the idea of being attracted to Chandler was there, Monica had her eyes on one man and one man only, Richard. After a long run of awful luck with men, Monica met Richard, a friend of her dad’s and her eye doctor, and they both fell in love.
They seemed perfect together and seemed meant to be to a lot of fans, but when it comes to light that Richard does not want kids, cracks start to form and while at Rachel’s ex-husband’s wedding, the two decided to end things and it is heartbreaking to watch.

05. PHOEBE GIVES UP THE TRIPLETS
( Season 5 Episode 3 – ” The One With
The Triplets”)

Credit: Netflix

In her quirky and caring nature, Phoebe agreed to be a surrogate mother for her brother Frank and his wife Alice. This resulted in her being pregnant with triplets and in season five episode three, she births them and has to give them up.
While she is adamant at the start of the pregnancy she will have no issue giving the children up, by the end, this is not true as she even tries to get Rachel to ask Frank to let Phoebe keep one. When Phoebe endures labor and the triplets arrive she has a moment alone with them and, even though she is their aunt, says she wishes she could take them all home. Her mother’s instinct was strong but her commitment to her brother was stronger the dilemma and giving away what she wanted the most made all of them and us cry together.

04. JOEY CONFESSES TO RACHEL
( Season 8 Episode 16- ” The One Where Joey Tells Rachel”)

Credit: Netflix

The romantic pairing of Joey and Rachel was one of the Friends’ most controversial plotlines, but there were some who got behind the relationship. Whether you loved it or hated it, you can’t deny that Joey’s torch for Rachel led to some of the goofy, womanizing character’s sweetest, most romantic moments on the show (especially in contrast to his early horndog ways). In particular, the moment when, after much angst, he finally tells Rachel he’s falling in love with her really tugs at the heartstrings. It’s so genuine, and the first time Joey’s felt that way about anyone — a fact that even moves Ross to give him his blessing. Rachel doesn’t reciprocate, but their mutual cry-fest and pledge that this won’t change their friendship are perhaps even more heartwarming.

03. FINDING OUT CHANDLER AND MONICA CANNOT HAVE KIDS
( Season 9 Episode 21 – ” The One With The Fertility Test”)

Credit: Netflix

Arguably Friends’ best couple, Monica and Chandler seemed destined for marriage and children from the moment they first proposed to each other. But, after a long time of trying, in season nine episode twenty-one the two take fertility tests and find out that in fact, they cannot have children. It was so clear for years how much Monica wanted children and how much she and Chandler wanted them together. When Chandler delivers the news to Monica that they cannot have children together it is heartbreaking, while they do adopt children, in the end, this moment and the fact they cannot have kids by themself is one of the saddest moments in all of the show.

02. ROSS AND RACHEL BREAK UP
( Season 3 Episode 15 – ” The One Where Ross And Rachel Take A Break”)

Credit: Netflix

After finally getting together following the heartbreakingly sweet prom video incident, all was well with Ross and Rachel until the episodes leading up to the fifteenth of season three. After seeing the pair going on a break (or breaking up in Ross’ eyes), then seeing Ross had slept with Chloe from the xerox place and then knowing Rachel wanted back together was enough for the heart. A quick breakup would have been easier in the end, however, that is not what happened, it was long and emotional and when Rachel breaks up with Ross and the two sob, it is heartbreaking for fans.

01. THE LAST SCENE
( Season 10 Episodes 17- 18 – ” The Last One” Part 1 and 2)

Credit: Netflix

After ten amazing seasons Friends came to an end in 2004 and its finale was spectacular. Rachel got off the plane, Chandler and Monica had their children and the gang was helping Monica and Chandler move. It was emotional and beautiful with the very end scene being a sobfest for fans.

All six friends stand in the classic apartment with one another, every one of them having lived there at one point, all of which need to give back their key and when they do, and they leave for coffee it is heartbreaking. With one final joke from Chandler, the camera pans around the apartment one final time and the show ends. Beautiful and heartbreaking, before you put on season one to cheer up.

While these are just 10 scenes, there is n number of scenes which made us smile, laugh, sad and cry. When Phoebe said to Joey, ‘Girlfriends and boyfriends will come and go but this, this is forever’ and so for friends fans, FRIENDS IS FOREVER. it’s evergreen.
Please comment and let us know about your most favourite scenes. We would love to know about it.

Why would you love it-
Although the name “Doctor Crush” seems a bit cheesy, it is far from being cringy. As an outlook, this is a journey of a girl coming out of a hopeless situation to becoming a renowned neurosurgeon.

But in its core, this series tells that, in the end, it is not about becoming wealthy or successful. Instead, it is about how a person deals with the past.

Your story begins when you start to dream, develop a vision and it all starts with an idea. No matter how big or small, fancy or basic, difficult or easy your dreams may sound, they are worth. Here’s an inspiring story of a man who didn’t stop chasing his dreams. His aim to become India’s most prominent Chef involved times which weren’t favourable. But with his hard-work and believe in himself today Sanjyot Keer is not just a Chef but amongst those “under 30” influential people of India who have a huge net worth. His featuring in Forbes India’s Tycoon of Tomorrow 2018 is an example that speaks for his achievements in itself.

Sanjyot Keer, the man behind Your Food Lab (Cooking Channel) is a well-known Celebrity Chef of India. Known for his elegancy in cooking, he is loved by people for the smile and happiness he brings through his recipes.

Sanjyot had a love for cooking since childhood when he was just 12 years old. With slightly less interest in his academics, he still secured 95 in class 10th Home Science paper, the only optional subject that involved cooking. He topped Hotel Management Studies at Queen Margaret University and also was fortunate enough to get a chance as a food producer for the fourth season of TV show Master Chef India.

Years went by thinking of his next move and his passion for cooking but due to some circumstances, things fell apart and he was not sure about how far will he be able to take this as his career because he was not associated with any restaurant and freelancers barely earned back then. As a result of all this, he joined his father’s business but as a hobby opened his Facebook page with the name “Your Food Lab”.

Initial days were tough as the recipes he uploaded after his work didn’t bring him a good amount of viewership. A bit of research made him realize that there wasn’t a page then that featured fast food videos and recipes and without further delay, he got the first content that he shot as a recipe for “Your Food Lab” his Facebook page.

On 25th April 2016, he finally uploaded his first video, it was a Pizza Dosa recipe which got 10k views in just a day. His second video brought him 100k views in a day but his third video which was No Baking Mango Cheesecake recipe turned out to be a big encouraging factor with 1 million views within 24 hours. His page was flooded with appreciating comments and messages and there was no looking back afterwards. People started looking forward to his uploads. He resigned from his father’s business to devote his 100 per cent attention to make this page grow. People who first doubted his capabilities and discouraged him with negative comments were the same ones who now follow his recipes.

Over last three years, he has uploaded more than 1000 videos, got featured in n number of interviews, worked with many food brands and now his page is backed by 3 Million followers on Facebook.

He has expanded his page on Instagram and also runs a channel on YouTube.

Sanjyot had a different vision and immense courage to pursue his dream. His ideas were objected by many but instead of paying heed to all the pessimism. he did everything to make his dream the reality of his life. His story tells that no dream is ever too small to be taken for granted, no matter what anyone thinks. You just need to have enough faith in your ideas and stay committed to them. In Sanjyot’s own words “Do what it takes and do not kill your stupid idea.
